“I Still Call Australia Home”!
Dorothea Mackella wrote ‘My Country’ in 1904 when she was in England, and homesick for Australia. She was 19.
An Irishman living in Australia, when asked if he ever wanted to go back, replied “My heart’s in Australia now”.
My paternal Grandfather was born on Australia Day 1896. A few years ago on Australia Day I said to a little friend “If my Grandfather was alive he would be 110 today. “Ohh, he must have had a lot of birthdays” she said! A bonzer little Aussie.
